The Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner released a bulletin on October 30th announcing a new rule around Short Term Limited Duration (STLD) medical plans. LifeMap's Short Term Medical (STM) plan is subject to this rule, which went into effect on November 16, 2018, impacting policies beginning January 1, 2019 and later.
Part of the new rule includes Washington STM policy sales with a January 1st effective date, during the Affordable Care Act Annual Enrollment. In accordance with this rule, LifeMap will not be authorized to sell STM Plans for Washington with an effective date in the month of January, during the ACA Annual Enrollment period of November 1, 2019 through December 15, 2019.
For Washington clients, any application postmarked or submitted online via broker link or LifeMapCo.com from November 1, 2019 through December 15, 2019 with a requested January 2020 effective date will not be accepted. Applications postmarked or submitted online via broker link or LifeMapCo.com on 12/16/19 or after with a requested January 2020 effective date, will be accepted.
It is LifeMap's mission to provide financial protection to customers through all of life’s transitions. We truly believe our STM policy provides temporary piece of mind at an affordable rate until a member's ACA coverage begins, until a member finds a new job, or qualifies for more permanent and comprehensive coverage.
